Verizon Strike
The contracts that currently govern the relationship between Verizon and two of its unions, Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), have expired effective at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, August 6, 2011. Verizon and its two unions have not reached an agreement and a strike between Verizon and the unions is underway. Verizon has indicated that for repair services they will operate business as usual, however, delays are expected. Provisioning for Verizon services will be halted until an agreement has been reached. Orders with established due dates will not be honored and will be recommitted once provisioning activities resume. Provisioning escalations will not be permitted except for orders impacting Public Safety, Medical, E911 or Out of Service situations.
Areas that may be affected with ordering and provisioning include:
Connecticut
Delaware
District of Columbia
Maryland
Massachusetts
New Jersey
New York
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
Virginia
West Virginia
