Verizon Strike

Recently workers within two unions at Verizon voted to strike over the weekend.  As a result all carriers who contract with Verizon for underlying infrastructure and services are being affected.   As your Telecom Expense Management company, vCom Solutions is sending this notification to keep you updated on the strike and to assist with answering any service questions.

The contracts that currently govern the relationship between Verizon and two of its unions, Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), have expired effective at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, August 6, 2011. Verizon and its two unions have not reached an agreement and a strike between Verizon and the unions is underway.  Verizon has indicated that for repair services they will operate business as usual, however, delays are expected. Provisioning for Verizon services will be halted until an agreement has been reached. Orders with established due dates will not be honored and will be recommitted once provisioning activities resume.  Provisioning escalations will not be permitted except for orders impacting Public Safety, Medical, E911 or Out of Service situations.

Areas that may be affected with ordering and provisioning include:

Connecticut
Delaware
District of Columbia
Maryland
Massachusetts
New Jersey
New York
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
Virginia
West Virginia

We will continue to work closely with our management contacts within Verizon to minimize potential customer impact, related to installation and repair activities.  We  will continue to keep you apprised of the situation, and we will pass on relevant information regarding this matter as it becomes available.  As we continue to monitor this situation closely, please feel free to reach out to your vCom Account Team with any questions.  Our technical support team is also available 24x7 at (800) 804-VCOM if you experience any service issues.
