Cell Phone Recycling Makes Sense

Bloggerwe recycle cell phone mobile phoneDo you ever wonder what happens to your old cell phone when it is thrown in the trash?  According to Gizmodo, each day in the US alone 426,000 cell phones are decommissioned!  But where do they go?  Hopefully they are being recycled.

Cell phones contain toxic materials such as LEAD, MERCURY, and CADMIUM, which can end up in our drinking water and our food sources.  Which is just one reason to keep them out of the landfill.   Cell phones, even the broken ones contain valuable metals and parts that companies are happy to recycle.  Cell phones contain parts made of Platinum, Gold and Silver and the chargers are partly made of Copper, all desired metals.

One recycled cell phone will actually yield enough metal to make a new cell phone!  No new metal has to be mined.  And in today's world strip mining 1 clean ounce of gold creates 79 TONS of waste.  How much is that?  Think of 35 cars stacked on top of each other.  If we get the gold from old unwanted cell phones we greatly reduce the impact on our planet's precious resources.

Another great way they recycle the cell phone parts is to take just the working components of the cell phones and build up a new reconditioned working phone and send it back into circulation.

Recycling Mobile Phones really does make a difference.  Find out how you can recycle your unwanted cell phones today!
